Steam Cleaners

Vapor steam cleaners or steam vapor systems are cleaning appliances or devices that use a boiler to heat tap water to high temperatures (240-310F/115-155C). With heat as the primary functional agent, high temperature steam vapor is applied to cleanable surfaces via a variety of insulated tools and accessories thereby safely providing the energy needed to break soil bonds and release contaminants into water suspension where they can be removed by wiping or vacuuming.

This process uses very little water, compared to carpet or other cleaning devices referred to by the misnomer "steam cleaners", which do not use steam but rather hot water.
The inherent low-moisture characteristics of a steam vapor system make it suitable for use on the interior portion of a building or residence.

Steam vapor cleaners are frequently used for hypoallergenic environments, as they do not require the use of additional cleaning chemicals, benefiting indoor air quality and eliminating the need to handle or store cleaning agents. Steam has been shown effective in combating moulds, bacteria, viruses, and other forms of biocontamination.

Steam Cleaning initially involves the application of a detergent based solution. After appropriate dwell time, a pressurized manual or automatic cleaning tool (aka wand) passes over the surface several times to thoroughly rinse out all residue and particulates.
Heavily Soiled areas require the application of pretreatments, preconditioners, or "traffic-lane cleaners", which are detergents or emulsifiers that break the binding of soils to carpet fibers over a short period of time, are commonly sprayed onto carpet prior to the primary use of the dry-cleaning system.
